Some places have a way of captivating you, drawing you into their beauty and history. For me, that place was the Fisher Building in Detroit, especially during Christmas. Walking through its grand hallways, I was mesmerized by the ornate tile work, stunning chandeliers, and the overall elegance of the architecture. It was a space that radiated warmth, sophistication, and a sense of timeless luxury.
That moment stayed with me, and when I sat down to design my next necklace, I knew I wanted to capture that same feeling. Enter Tiger’s Eye.
Why Tiger’s Eye?
Tiger’s Eye is a gemstone that exudes richness and depth, just like the Fisher Building’s golden hues and intricate details. The warm brown, golden, and deep burgundy tones reminded me of the marble walls, polished floors, and glowing light fixtures. Its chatoyancy—the silky, shifting bands of color—felt like the way light dances through the building’s magnificent space.
The Design Process
I paired the Tiger’s Eye beads with sterling silver accents to add a refined contrast, much like the chandeliers that illuminate the Fisher Buildings' ceilings. The silver spacers provide a subtle shimmer, echoing the elegant details that make the building so breathtaking.
Each bead was carefully chosen to reflect the strength, beauty, and classic style that inspired me. The result? A necklace that doesn’t just accessorize—it tells a story.
Wearing a Piece of Detroit’s Beauty
Jewelry should feel meaningful and personal, and this necklace holds that for me. It’s a piece that embodies artistry, history, and inspiration drawn from the world around us. Whether you’ve walked through the Fisher Building yourself or simply love the bold elegance of Tiger’s Eye, this necklace brings a touch of that magic wherever you go.
